Portfolio Recovery may have located a new slew of dumpsters where the scum on the bottom is still there.

Recent phone calls and Emails from consumers state that PRA collectors are calling on a new slew of debts that appear to be "fresh" meat to PRA -at (averaging?) about ten years old.

Can you imagine the euphoria in the Fredrickson, Grube, Sugg-Scott, and Stevenson household's in a find this big? The future may surely be full of new Lexus, Mercedes, vacation homes, traveling, boats, perhaps even more of everything.

Yes, it could...possibly...perhaps...score up there with the recent oil and natural gas field bonanza that has rocked the American fuel's market.

PRA now has debts to collect on with a large potential of massive profits based on the fact they paid very little for them and had only to climb down into those dark, smelly dumpsters and slowly scrape their putty knives, one layer at a time as debt after dead-debt came back to life.

No, it's not oil, -it's not gas, -not even close to a mineral, these are debts that are stone cold dead, cemented to the dumpster floors, with years of garbage and waste tossed over them. Suddenly brought back to life by an American icon highly skilled in taking a free ride through life off the backs of everyday, common, hardworking American consumers. This is what a bottom feeder does-to hell with morals, ethics and telling the truth.

If only we could get a reality television show to record the lies, threats, illegal statements and potential bogus claims to be made by desperate PRA collectors to consumers who have no idea of what is about to happen to them.

In retrospect,- some PRA collectors have or could use the following: (?)
1) No, these debts are still active, we can even put them on your credit because we bought them.
2) Just because the debt is ten years old, it does not meant that we dident lose thousands off it and now have a right to 1099 your SS#.
3) See...when a debt changes hands, the clock starts all over, we can put it on your credit, even sue you for it.
4) We own this debt...we are ENTITLED to get paid-you don't need paperwork, you know you owe it.

It's all in their lie -and how you as a consumer handle them. (You didn't think they were going to be upfront & trutful with a dumpster debt...did you?)

Don't think for a moment they won't turn S#&T into gold because that is what con artists do and PRA is one of the best at it.

They do not care that there are no documents back up their claims... this is all about the MON$Y!

So play their game...only change the rules. Ask that 'dumpellector' when you last made payment on it?
Check out your state statute on debts: (to ascertain the date of death or expiration by law)
http://www.creditcar...ations-1282.php

Once you are convinced it is far past any dates for credit bureau placement or legal actions, make that PRA 'dumpellector' work.

By law, they are required to send you a written notice, make them waste their time, money & postage. Send them a dispute letter, simply sttaing..."Send me documents that show I owe this debt." Don't send them a three page FREE internet letter that has no value & worthless.

Wait for them to respond. Let them call, give them a cell or number that you control, spend as much time on the phone wasting their time-as you can. Remember...If a PRA 'dumpellector' is not collecting $ from you, they are not collecting from anyone else...either.
Waste their time...waste their money. See how many lies you can tell to a 'dumpellector.'

When you have had enough and want to end their calls and letters...simply type out a letter that gives your name, address, city state and zip.

Place the PRA account -or your phone number where an account number goes, so it can be identified.

Regular mail, or fax it to:
Judith Sugg-Scott, EVP, General Counsel (she gets paid millions to do this)
Portfolio Recovery Associates, Inc.
120 Corporate Blvd.
Norfolk, VA 23502
Fax: 757-321-2518

State the following:

Dear Ms. Sugg-Scott,

"I REFUSE TO PAY THIS TIME BARRED DEBT!"

Feel free to add a KMA... if necessary or it makes you feel better.

Sincerely,

An UNscrewed American Consumer (who works for a living?)

End of story, no more calls or letters, yet you may possibly have just caused them to spend MUCH more on the account than what they paid.

Fight Back America!

Make these free riders work for a living, STOP giving them a FREE ride off the backs of honest, hard working consumers.

(If the scum suckers still feel they can screw you with a 1099-C see what is written on this site)

I just wanted to say thank you again, for all the help you've provided both me, and many others. You've opened my eyes to the rights we all have in regards to this awful business practice.

You've helped my wife and I via emails several times, and it's greatly appreciated. My wife and I spent the last 9 years repairing our credit, and we now have a 780 credit score, and a pre-approval at the very best interest rate for a mortgage. None of that would've been possible without your assistance.

On a separate note, I just received a collection letter from Portfolio Recovery for a debt from at least 9 years ago, and I intend to send the DV letter, and then the SOL letter, as you recommended. I do hope that they don't try to pull a fast one, and dump something on my credit report (I just pulled my free one today, and it's clean as a whistle).

Thanks again, I appreciate the work you do for all of us.

Kevin

In 2010, PRA went after me for debts from 1992. Ancient debt is nothing new to these people. Even though I picked up the phone and briefly spoke to one of their collectors, they never sent me anything in writing. To stop the calls, I sent PRA a DV letter, noting that I currently had nothing negative on my credit report. They never contacted me again, in any way, shape or form. Nobody else has contacted me about this debt either.

I also filed a complaint with my state's Attorney General's office, which probably helped. The more complaints about PRA they get, the more likely they will take action. My state's (Texas) AG office contacted me within 2 weeks of my filing the complaint online.

Eighteen years later they come after you, wow. I do all business in writing with these junk debt buyers, I was never sued by a junk debt buyer although my wife and I received dunning letters from the following; RJM Acquisitions, Palisades Collections LLC, Merchants Credit Guide Company, National Enterprise Systems, Law Offices of Daniel Burak,
Law Offices of Daniel Gordon, Collect America, Law Offices of James Cambece, and Unifund. I never have had the pleasure of dealing with Midland Funding LLC, Portfolio Recovery Associates, LVNV Funding, or Cavalry Portfolio Services although I would LOVE to receive a dunning letter from any of these as I have helped friends attack all four of them.

We just recieved a 1099 C from PRA we are in Texas . where do we start. ? The original loan was with
MBNA, bought by Bank of America bought by PRA. Hubby got one notice from PRA .. he responded with a certified return reciept letter asking for details .. in 2007 .. did not hear anything until yesterday 1099
indicating we got $44,000 charged off in April of 2011 .. I know we are over the 5 years ..statute in tx is 4 .. they never indicated how much was interest on 1099 .. high limit back 1988 with MBNA was $25,000 .. are they nuts. should we see a tax attorney or write another letter , or tape the phone call . we are just livid . Haaaaaaaaaalp ...

I never got a thing from PRA in writing. After sending my DV letter, their phone calls stopped quickly too. They were calling my home 2-3 times daily. I only ever picked up once, and promptly hung up on the collector when I realized what they wanted. Thankfully, peace and quiet have reigned in my home since then.

I have to come up with a Dunning letter for sure . this is unbelievable.. ! I wonder if I am the only one that has recieved in 2012 as I see that the previous victims were in 2011. I also would like to know if there are any changes that I might add to the letter that might help .

If it was me I would incorporate the Law Bud cited in his original thread posting.
